A Captain's Diary

My first day at Unity could be described, with only a little exaggeration, as one of ‘blood, sweat and tears’. (There was no blood.) I turned up at training, not really knowing what to expect, and was met with fitness drills. After only five minutes I was sitting down, panting and crying. But the coach was so friendly and motivating that I soon got back up and carried on – and quickly began to get used to the unfamiliar routines.
We went from fitness to possession to full-on matches. The games have got better and better, and now, four years later, I’m captain of the under-14s team. There’s been plenty of hard work – but that’s been matched with great rewards. Being part of the Unity family is a really special experience.
